To ensure the successful assembly of maps, the original maps must meet the following conditions:
The program moves and compares each map in the first row one at a time to the map on the left until matching features are found and aligned
within the overlap area.
From there, each map in the remaining rows are connected from top to bottom.
Each map is aligned with its column and positioned to overlap the same amount as defined by the first row.
As each map is moved a search is performed within a defined band that looks for matching features in a designated area of the target image.
The map is placed once these matching features are found and aligned.
The size and position of the search band and the target area is defined in the settings and can be altered during the search.
